The very first evening of the Raqs congress (International Congress of Oriental dance) is dedicated to Classic and Egyptian Oriental dance- the source and cradle of Oriental dance in all its shapes. Come and discover Cairo’s superstar : Soraya ! She is among the brightest stars of today’s Oriental Egyptian dance. Soraya will delight you through a flow of emotions, as only Egyptian stars can. A first and unique opportunity to discover this extraordinary talent in Belgium. You will also attend the final of the prestigious competition of professional dancers, the « Raqs Golden Awards ». The participants come from 8 different countries, among which Belgium, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Italy, Spain, Guadeloupe and France, the country where Lolie’s from. Lolie was last year’s winner, and you will re-discover her as well. The proof that Oriental dancing has conquered the globe !

The second evening of the Raqs Congress will take you on a journey through the thousand-and-one facets of Oriental dance: from India to Morocco, passing through Iran, Turkey and Egypt: visit all the variations and other fusions of modern Oriental dance with world-wide renowned dancers: Leyla Jouvana (DE), Tamalyn Dallal (USA), Mohamed Kazafy (EG), Salwa (BE), Miriam Perez (USA-IL), the Saada Troup (ES), Artemisia (BE), Serkan (TU–BE), Maya Sapera and her troup (Indian dances- BE).
